After growing up in Evanston, Illinois, Chapin began his involvement with Amigos in the summer of 2015 when he spent 7 weeks on the Paraguarí, Paraguay project. The personal growth he experienced in Paraguay led him to join the chapter’s training staff where he works with future participants so that they can develop the skills they need to have a successful and transformative Amigos experience. Chapin is currently a freshman at Northwestern University where he studies Material Science and Engineering. He enjoys sailing, backpacking, biking and works on Northwestern’s Formula SAE team designing and building a race car engine.
